Introduction

John Wayne Gacy was one of the most notorious serial killers in American history. Between 1972 and 1978, he murdered at least 33 young men and boys in Cook County, Illinois. Gacy was known for his outwardly friendly demeanor and his work as a clown performer at parties, earning him the nickname “The Killer Clown.” However, behind this façade, he carried out horrific crimes, luring victims to his home where he tortured, raped, and murdered them before burying most of them in the crawl space beneath his house.

Gacy’s killing spree began in 1972 when he murdered his first known victim, Timothy McCoy.
