Elmer Wayne Henley Jr. was an American criminal known for his involvement in the Houston Mass Murders, a series of abductions and killings that claimed the lives of at least 28 young males between 1970 and 1973. Henley, alongside David Owen Brooks, assisted serial killer Dean Corll in these heinous crimes.

Background

Born on May 9, 1956, in Houston, Texas, Henley grew up in a troubled household. He dropped out of high school and met Dean Corll through mutual acquaintance David Brooks. Corll, known as "The Candy Man" due to his family's candy business, manipulated Henley into participating in his criminal activities.

Criminal Activities

Henley's involvement escalated from luring victims to actively participating in their torture and murder. The victims, primarily teenage boys, were subjected to brutal acts before their deaths. Notable incidents include:

• March 24, 1972: Henley lured his friend, Frank Aguirre (18), to Corll's residence. Aguirre was restrained, tortured, and murdered.
• May 21, 1972: Henley assisted in the abduction and murder of Billy Baulch (17) and Johnny Delome (16). Both were subjected to prolonged torture before being killed.
• July 19, 1972: Henley participated in the abduction and murder of Steven Sickman (17), who was strangled and buried in a boat shed.
• October 3, 1972: Henley and Brooks abducted Wally Simoneaux (14) and Richard Hembree (13). Both boys were tortured and murdered.
• June 4, 1973: Henley lured William Ray Lawrence (15) to Corll's residence, where he was held captive for three days before being murdered.
• July 7, 1973: Henley assisted in the abduction and murder of Homer Garcia (15), who was shot and buried at Lake Sam Rayburn.
• July 12, 1973: Henley participated in the murder of John Sellars (17), who was shot and buried at High Island Beach.
• July 19, 1973: Henley lured Michael Baulch (15) to Corll's residence, where he was tortured and murdered.
• July 25, 1973: Henley assisted in the abduction and murder of Charles Cobble (17) and Marty Jones (18). Both were tortured before being killed.
• August 3, 1973: Henley participated in the abduction and murder of James Dreymala (13), who was strangled and buried in Corll's boat shed.
