Michael Anthony Baulch, a 15-year-old boy from Houston, Texas, tragically lost his life on July 19, 1973. His death was part of a series of horrific crimes committed by Dean Corll, a serial killer responsible for the Houston mass murders. Michael was one of 28 young men abducted, tortured, and murdered by Corll and his accomplices, Elmer Wayne Henley and David Brooks.
Michael and his older brother, Billy Gene Baulch Jr., 17, were both victims of Corll's crimes.
Billy was found buried in a grave near High Island, having been strangled, while Michael's remains were discovered in a Houston boat shed, where he had been shot twice in the head. The killings came to light when Henley, one of Corll's accomplices, shot Corll in self-defense during a confrontation at Corll's home in Pasadena, Texas. Henley then contacted the police, leading to the discovery of the victims' bodies.
Henley and Brooks were charged for their roles in the murders. Henley was convicted and sentenced to six 99-year terms for his involvement in six of the killings, while Brooks received a 99-year sentence for one murder conviction. The Houston mass murders remain one of the most notorious serial killing cases in Texas history, and forensic investigations have continued over the years to correctly identify victims and provide closure to their families.
