Robert Tyrone Hayes, born on March 12, 1982, is an American serial killer convicted for the murders of three women in the Daytona Beach, Florida area between December 2005 and February 2006. DNA evidence has also linked him to a fourth murder committed in March 2016. Additionally, he remains the prime suspect in another homicide from December 2007.

Early Life and Background

Hayes was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, the youngest of four children. Raised primarily by his mother after his father's murder shortly after his birth, Hayes faced challenges during his upbringing, including bullying due to his weight and alleged abuse. He attended Bethune-Cookman College (now Bethune-Cookman University) between 2000 and 2006, earning a degree in criminal justice. During his college years, Hayes was active as a cheerleader and was known for his friendly demeanor and active social life.

  • Date Found: December 26, 2005
  • Location: Alley in Daytona Beach, Florida
  • Details: Gunther was discovered with a gunshot wound to the back of her head. DNA evidence was recovered from the scene. She had been missing since December 24, 2005, after failing to meet a friend for dinner.
• Julie Green
  • Age: 34
  • Date Found: January 14, 2006
  • Location: Construction site in Daytona Beach, Florida
  • Details: Green was found with a gunshot wound to the back of her head. While no DNA was recovered, tire tracks at the scene suggested a 2003 Taurus or Sable vehicle.
• Iwana Patton
  • Age: 35
  • Date Found: February 24, 2006
  • Location: Dirt road in Daytona Beach, Florida
  • Details: Patton had been shot in the front of her head and showed signs of a struggle. DNA and ballistic evidence linked her murder to the same weapon used in the previous killings.
• Rachel Elizabeth Bey
  • Age: 32
  • Date Found: March 7, 2016
  • Location: Highway near Jupiter, Florida
  • Details: Bey's body was discovered naked, having been strangled and beaten. DNA evidence from the scene matched that found in the earlier Daytona Beach murders.
