Gregory John Godzik, a 17-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on December 12, 1976. He was one of the victims of John Wayne Gacy, a notorious serial killer and sex offender who operated in Illinois. Gacy was responsible for the rape, torture, and murder of at least 33 young men and boys between 1962 and 1977. Gregory, a high school senior at Taft and an employee of Gacy, disappeared on December 11, 1976, after leaving his house around 8 p.m. for a date with his girlfriend.
His abandoned car was later discovered by friends, and despite efforts by his family, including hiring a private investigator, no new information surfaced at the time.
Gregory's girlfriend even visited Gacy's house to inquire about his disappearance. Gacy claimed that Gregory had mentioned plans to run away. However, Gregory's remains were eventually found buried under the crawl space of Gacy's home. During his trial, Gacy chillingly claimed that Gregory had dug his own grave. Gregory's body was identified through dental records in January 1979, years after his disappearance.

He was convicted of 33 murders, marking one of the highest numbers of homicides committed by a single individual in U.S. legal history.
