Larry William Eyler: The Highway Killer

Early Life and Background

Larry William Eyler was born on December 21, 1952, in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He was the youngest of four children in a family marked by instability. His parents divorced when he was young, and his mother remarried multiple times. Eyler struggled with his sexual orientation, experiencing deep-seated feelings of self-hatred regarding his homosexuality. This internal conflict played a significant role in shaping his violent tendencies in later years.

Criminal Activities

Between 1982 and 1984, Eyler embarked on a brutal killing spree across the Midwest, targeting young men and teenage boys. His modus operandi involved luring victims with offers of drugs, alcohol, or money, then driving them to remote locations where they were restrained, gagged, and brutally stabbed. In several instances, Eyler disemboweled or dismembered his victims, displaying a disturbing level of violence.
