Death by Force

William Joseph “Bill” Lewis, a 19-year-old white male from Peru, Indiana, was murdered on November 20, 1982, by serial killer Larry Eyler. Lewis had been hitchhiking near Vincennes, Indiana, when Eyler abducted him. Eyler offered Lewis beer and Placidyl, a sedative, during their drive north along U.S. Route 41. By the time they reached Jasper County, Indiana, Lewis was semiconscious. Eyler then stabbed him to death and buried his body in a rural field near Rensselaer .
