Overview
On April 3, 2009, 41-year-old Jiverly Antares Wong (also known as Jiverly Voong) opened fire inside the American Civic Association (ACA) immigration center in Binghamton, New York, killing 13 people and wounding 4 others before dying by suicide. It remains the deadliest mass shooting by a lone gunman in New York State. The attack unfolded between approximately 10:30 a.m. and 10:33 a.m. Eastern Time.

Timeline of the Attack
Wong used his car to barricade a rear exit, entered through the front door wearing a ballistic vest and a bright green jacket, and began shooting. Two receptionists were shot immediately; one (Shirley DeLucia, 61) survived by feigning death and called 911 at 10:38 a.m., staying on the line for 39 minutes. SWAT entered and began clearing the building at 11:13 a.m. Wong fired 99 rounds in total—88 from a 9mm Beretta and 11 from a .45-caliber Beretta—and died by self-inflicted gunshot at 10:33 a.m.
