In the spring of 2009, a tragedy unfolded in Binghamton, New York, cutting short the promising life of Parveen Ali, a 26-year-old woman of Pakistani descent. On April 3rd, she was among the thirteen innocent victims of a mass shooting at the American Civic Association, a place dedicated to helping immigrants build new lives in the United States.
