Maria Zobniw, a 60-year-old woman, was tragically killed on April 3, 2009, in a violent mass shooting at the American Civic Association in Binghamton, New York. She was a part-time caseworker at the center, an organization that provides services to immigrants and refugees. On that Friday morning, a gunman named Jiverly Antares Wong entered the building and opened fire, taking the lives of 13 people and wounding four others before taking his own life.
