In the early morning hours of August 19, 2016, the life of 21-year-old Christopher Williams, a Black male from Fredericksburg, Virginia, was tragically cut short. The incident unfolded in the 200 block of Kingsmill Court at the Kendalwood Apartment Complex. Fredericksburg Police were initially called to the scene at 12:21 a.m. for a disturbance, but the situation quickly escalated to a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Williams deceased, having sustained two apparent gunshot wounds.
The ensuing investigation revealed a chaotic scene with multiple individuals involved. Two other men, 19-year-old Markuis Lucas and 18-year-old Jamique McAllister, both of Fredericksburg, were also found with non-fatal gunshot wounds. Lucas was treated at a local hospital and subsequently released into police custody. He was initially arrested on a felony charge for possession of a stolen firearm, but after further investigation, the charges were upgraded to include first-degree murder for the death of Williams. He was held without bail at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
McAllister was also hospitalized for his injuries. Authorities had issued a felony arrest warrant for him in connection with a robbery that had occurred earlier in the week. As the investigation progressed, police identified a third suspect, 31-year-old Fernando “Flip” Booker of Gainesville, Virginia. A public appeal was made for information on his whereabouts, as he was wanted on two felony charges of aggravated malicious wounding and was considered armed and dangerous. Booker later surrendered to the police and was taken into custody. The investigation continued to determine the precise role each individual played in the events that led to the death of Christopher Williams.
