Robert Andrew Berdella Jr. (January 31, 1949 – October 8, 1992) was an American serial killer who operated in Kansas City, Missouri, between 1984 and 1987. Nicknamed "The Kansas City Butcher," Berdella kidnapped, tortured, and murdered at least six young men, meticulously documenting his heinous acts. His crimes were uncovered in 1988, leading to his conviction and life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

Early Life

Berdella was born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He enrolled at the Kansas City Art Institute in 1967 but withdrew in 1969 after facing criticism for his controversial art projects. Remaining in Kansas City, he purchased a house at 4315 Charlotte Street, which later became the scene of his gruesome crimes.
