In the early morning hours of June 1, 2024, the life of Corey James Lapoint, a 38-year-old White male from Lafayette, Louisiana, was tragically cut short. Just before 1 a.m., officers from the Lafayette Police Department responded to a call on the 3800 block of West Congress Street. There, they discovered Lapoint suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite any efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
