Overview
On April 15, 2021, Brandon Scott Hole, a 19-year-old former FedEx employee, carried out a mass shooting at a FedEx Ground facility located at 8951 Mirabel Road near the Indianapolis International Airport in Indianapolis, Indiana. The attack began shortly after 11:00 p.m. local time and lasted under four minutes. Hole killed eight people and wounded several others before taking his own life at the scene. The incident has been described as the deadliest mass shooting in Indiana’s history.
Sequence of Events
- Hole arrived at the FedEx facility during a shift change, spoke with security, then returned to his car.
- He exited his vehicle and began firing at random in the parking lot with a rifle, then proceeded to the facility entrance, firing again before being stopped by a turnstile.
- The shooting moved back into the parking lot, where an employee fired back and missed. Hole then returned inside and committed suicide.
- Police responded starting around 11:07 p.m., and by approximately 11:23 p.m., they believed Hole was dead.
