Overview
On March 18, 2008, 31-year-old Lee Isaac Bedwell Leeds opened fire at Black Road Auto, a salvage yard in Santa Maria, California, killing four men in a matter of minutes — among them his father, the yard’s owner. The quadruple homicide shocked the Central Coast and led to a years-long legal saga involving questions of mental illness, sanity, and sentencing.
The Crime: March 18, 2008
Leeds arrived at his family’s business, Black Road Auto, and carried out a shooting rampage on the property. Prosecutors later described the attack as a deliberate execution-style series of killings, all within the confines of the junkyard at 1625 Black Road in Santa Maria. The victims died at the scene from gunshot wounds.
