Javier Alatorre and the 2019 Tequila KC Bar Mass Shooting
In the early hours of October 6, 2019, a mass shooting took place inside the Tequila KC Bar at 1013 Central Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. Two gunmen—Javier Alatorre and Hugo Villanueva-Morales—entered the crowded neighborhood bar and opened fire, killing four people and injuring five others. Investigators later determined the shooting followed an earlier dispute; the men returned armed and began shooting into the crowd.
The Attack
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on October 6, 2019, surveillance footage showed two men entering Tequila KC and immediately drawing handguns. Roughly 40 patrons were inside when shots rang out. The attack left four victims dead at the scene and five others wounded.

Investigation and Arrests
Police identified the suspects within hours and released images to the public. Javier Alatorre, then 23, was arrested shortly after the shooting; Villanueva-Morales initially fled and was captured later after a manhunt that extended into Mexico.
