Robert A. Hawkins and the 2007 Westroads Mall Shooting
Overview
On December 5, 2007, 19-year-old Robert Arthur Hawkins carried out a mass shooting inside the Von Maur department store at Westroads Mall in Omaha, Nebraska. In a span of approximately six minutes, he murdered eight people and wounded four others before killing himself. It was Nebraska’s deadliest mass murder since 1958.
Timeline of the Attack
Hawkins entered the store shortly before 1:36 p.m. CST, left, and returned a few minutes later with a semi-automatic rifle. He took the elevator to the third floor and began firing at about 1:43 p.m., moving across floors and targeting victims in open areas and at the customer service desk. He fired 41 rounds in total and died by suicide at approximately 1:49 p.m.

The shooting occurred inside the Von Maur department store located in Westroads Mall, a major shopping center in Omaha, Nebraska.
