On a tragic Wednesday afternoon, the life of Gary Michael Joy, a 56-year-old Caucasian male, was cut short in a senseless act of violence. It was December 5, 2007, at the Von Maur department store in Omaha, Nebraska's Westroads Mall, a place bustling with holiday shoppers. Joy, an employee of the store, was among the eight people killed that day in one of the deadliest mass shootings in the state's history.
