Police quickly detained a 15-year-old male, booking him into the Douglas County Youth Center. He was initially arrested on suspicion of second-degree felony assault and weapons offenses; after Baltimore s death, prosecutors amended the allegations to manslaughter in juvenile court, along with charges of use of a weapon to commit a felony, unlawful possession of a handgun by a minor, and possession of a defaced firearm. Authorities did not release the teen s name because of his age.
By the weekend, word of Baltimore s death spread through local outlets and memorial pages, marking the end of a brief, desperate fight for his life and the beginning of a longer search for accountability. The juvenile suspect remained in custody as the homicide investigation continued, and Omaha police asked anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
