Zephen Xaver and the 2019 Sebring SunTrust Bank Mass Murder
Overview
On January 23, 2019, 21-year-old Zephen Allen Xaver entered a SunTrust Bank branch in Sebring, Florida, and murdered five women in an execution-style attack. He called 911 from inside the bank to report what he had done and later surrendered to responding officers after a standoff. The massacre shocked the tight-knit Sebring community and became one of Florida’s deadliest single-site bank shootings.

The attack occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. at the SunTrust Bank located at
1901 U.S. Highway 27 South, Sebring, Florida.
The Crime
According to investigators and later court proceedings, Xaver forced the women to lie face-down on the floor and shot each of them in the head. He then phoned 911 to confess from inside the bank. After negotiations and a brief standoff with police and a SWAT team, he surrendered without further violence.
