Lacey Nicole Nix, a 32-year-old female, tragically lost her life on the evening of Monday, November 13, 2023, in Springfield, Missouri. The incident unfolded at approximately 8:16 p.m. when Springfield police officers were dispatched to a residence at 4231 W. La Siesta Place following a report of a person having been shot. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Nix on the ground, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel at the scene administered life-saving measures, but their efforts were ultimately unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the location.
The investigation into the homicide was conducted by the Springfield Police Department. In the course of their investigation, detectives identified a person of interest who was questioned regarding the shooting. Following the investigation, the case was presented to the Greene County Prosecutor's office for review. This led to charges being filed against 25-year-old Brandon Huddleston.
Huddleston has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with Lacey Nix's death. In addition to the murder charge, he is also facing charges of felony stealing, second-degree burglary, delivery of a controlled substance, and third-degree domestic assault. He is currently being held at the Greene County Jail without bond. The Greene County Prosecutor's Office has emphasized that the charges are allegations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This incident marked the 16th homicide investigation in Springfield for the year 2023.
