Charlene Adell Gallego, born on October 10, 1956, in Stockton, California, was one half of the notorious serial killer duo alongside her husband, Gerald Armond Gallego. The couple, often referred to as "The Love Slave Killers" or "The Sex Slave Killers," committed a series of heinous crimes between 1978 and 1980, primarily in Sacramento, California.

Crimes and Victims

The Gallegos' crime spree involved the abduction, rape, and murder of at least eleven victims. Below are the details of some of their known victims:
  • September 10, 1978: Rhonda Scheffler (17) and Kippi Vaught (16) were abducted from a shopping mall in Sacramento, California. They were raped and murdered by the Gallegos.
  • June 24, 1979: Brenda Judd (14) and Sandra Colley (13) were kidnapped from a fairground in Reno, Nevada. They were sexually assaulted and killed.
  • April 24, 1980: Stacey Ann Redican (21) and Karen Chipman Twiggs (17) were taken from a shopping mall in Sacramento, California. They were raped and murdered.
  • June 7, 1980: Linda Aguilar (21), who was four months pregnant, was abducted from a beach in Oregon. She was raped and killed.
  • July 27, 1980: Virginia Mochel (34) was kidnapped from a bar in West Sacramento, California. She was sexually assaulted and murdered.
  • November 2, 1980: Craig Miller (22) and Mary Elizabeth Sowers (21) were abducted from a parking lot in Sacramento, California. Craig was shot and killed, while Mary Elizabeth was raped and murdered.

Apprehension and Conviction

The Gallegos were apprehended on November 17, 1980, after a witness reported their vehicle's license plate number to the police. Gerald Gallego was sentenced to death, while Charlene Gallego received a plea deal in exchange for testifying against her husband.
