Randy Steven Kraft: The Scorecard Killer
Introduction
Randy Steven Kraft, also known as the "Scorecard Killer," was a notorious American serial killer active from 1971 to 1983. He was convicted of murdering 16 young men but is suspected of killing as many as 67. Kraft targeted young men, often hitchhikers, military personnel, or individuals he picked up at bars, subjecting them to torture and sexual assault before killing them.
Modus Operandi
Kraft would lure his victims into his vehicle, often drugging them with alcohol or pharmaceuticals. Once incapacitated, he subjected them to brutal torture, often including sexual assault, burning, and mutilation. Many victims were strangled, but others died from blunt force trauma or asphyxiation. He frequently dumped their bodies along highways in California and other states.
The Scorecard
Upon his arrest, authorities discovered a cryptic list in Kraft's car, which they called "the Scorecard." It contained coded references believed to correspond to his victims. Investigators linked many entries to actual murders, though some remain unidentified.
