Bobbie Sue Terrell: The Nurse Turned Serial Killer
Early Life and Career
Bobbie Sue Terrell, born on October 16, 1952, in Woodlawn, Illinois, pursued a career in nursing after completing her degree in 1976 from Kaskaskia Community College in Centralia, Illinois. She married Danny Lynn Dudley in 1976, but the couple divorced in 1979. Following the divorce, Terrell spent approximately a year in a mental institution.
Employment and Early Incidents
Between May 1974 and July 1976, Terrell worked as a nurse’s aide at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Later, from May 11 to July 7, 1983, she was employed at Hillview Manor in Greenville, Illinois. During her tenure at Hillview Manor, she exhibited concerning behavior, including frequent fainting spells without apparent cause and self-inflicted injuries. These incidents led to her termination due to "mental problems." In July 1984, Terrell relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida, where she secured positions in several nursing homes.
North Horizon Health Care Center
On October 2, 1984, Terrell began working as the night shift supervisor at North Horizon Health Care Center in St. Petersburg. Shortly after her arrival, the facility experienced a series of unexplained patient illnesses and deaths. Notably, twelve patients died within a short span, with five fatalities occurring on a single day. The alarming increase in deaths ceased after Terrell left North Horizon.
