On the evening of January 13, 2023, Lizmanelle Lumpkin, a 41-year-old Black female from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was fatally wounded. Known affectionately as "Ronek," she was a passenger in a vehicle when another occupant was handling a firearm. The weapon discharged, striking Lumpkin. She was rushed by private vehicle to St. Anthony's Hospital.
Despite the immediate medical attention, Lizmanelle Lumpkin succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The Oklahoma City Police Department was notified and responded to the hospital to begin an investigation into the shooting. After looking into the circumstances, authorities determined that the shooting appeared to be completely accidental.
As a result of the investigation's findings, no arrests were made in connection with her death. Friends and family remembered Lumpkin, a mother of two and grandmother of three, as a woman who was full of life and laughter. She had a passion for cooking and was known for bringing the family together for barbecues and family nights, and was described as being the "life of the party."
