On a tragic night in June of 2020, a young woman's life was cut short in a senseless act of violence. Twenty-five-year-old Nicosha Nelson, a Black female from Oklahoma City, had just returned to her residence at the Fairfax Apartments in Midwest City on June 16th. Shortly after she entered her apartment, an unknown individual fired a weapon into her window, striking her.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 2:25 a.m. in response to a 'shots fired' report.
Nelson was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, she succumbed to her injuries. The community was left in shock and fear, with neighbors expressing their disbelief that such a violent event could occur in their area.
The Midwest City Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide. Despite their efforts, a suspect has not been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting. Investigators believe the attack was targeted, though a motive has not been released. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the shooting of Nicosha Nelson to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation and help bring justice to her family and loved ones.
