In March of 2023, the life of 40-year-old Amanda Lanay Miller was tragically cut short in Oklahoma City. Her body was discovered inside a residence at 4212 Altadena Avenue after police were called to the scene by a witness who had seen what they believed to be a deceased person. It is thought that Ms. Miller, a white female, had been deceased for several days before she was found.
The cause of her death was determined to be a gunshot wound from a shotgun.
Upon their arrival at the home, officers encountered the resident, Jake Robert Harris. Harris, a 31-year-old white male, refused to exit the house, leading to a standoff that lasted for several hours. The Oklahoma City Tactical Unit was called to the scene to assist. Ultimately, Harris surrendered to the authorities and was taken into custody.
Investigators learned that Amanda Miller and Jake Harris were in a dating relationship. It is believed that an argument between the two escalated, resulting in Harris shooting Miller. Following his arrest, Jake Robert Harris was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a complaint of First Degree Murder. The case marked the 13th homicide in Oklahoma City for the year 2023.
