Warren Leslie Forrest: A Detailed Account of His Crimes
Introduction
Warren Leslie Forrest, born on June 29, 1949, in Vancouver, Washington, is a convicted double murderer and suspected serial killer. He is currently serving two life sentences for the murders of Krysta Blake and Martha Morrison in 1974. Forrest is also suspected in several other deaths, disappearances, and assaults in Clark County between 1971 and 1974.
Crimes and Victims
- Barbara Ann Derry: Found on March 29, 1972, at the bottom of a silo at the Grist Mill in Northern Clark County. She was last seen hitchhiking on February 11, 1972. Cause of death: one stab wound to the heart.
- Krista Kay Blake: Murdered on July 11, 1974. Her body was found in Clark County, Washington.
- Martha Morrison: Murdered in 1974. Her body was found in a densely wooded area of Dole Valley in eastern Clark County.
- Carol Valenzuela: Murdered in 1974. Her body was found near Martha Morrison's remains in Dole Valley.
- Jamie Grissim: Disappeared in December 1971. Her remains have not been found.
- Diane Gilchrist: Disappeared in May 1974.
- Gloria Nadine Knudson: Murdered in May 1974.
- Norma Jean Countryman: Kidnapped in July 1974.
Investigation and Arrest
Forrest was arrested on October 2, 1974, on charges of kidnapping, rape, and attempted murder. He had lured a 20-year-old woman into his car under the pretense of doing a photo shoot, then assaulted her, raped her several times, tortured her, and shot her with darts from an air-powered dart gun. He then drove her to Camas, Washington, where he stabbed her six times and attempted to strangle her. The woman survived and managed to make her way to the city, where she was found by passers-by.
