Over a span of five years, from 1985 to 1990, he exploited his position in various nursing homes to commit heinous crimes against vulnerable patients. Despite being dismissed from 14 nursing homes due to complaints about his mistreatment of patients, Rosenfeld continued to find employment in the healthcare sector, allowing his malicious activities to persist unchecked.

Modus Operandi

Rosenfeld's preferred method of murder was administering lethal overdoses of medications, particularly antipsychotic drugs like Mellaril. He targeted elderly patients, many of whom were incapacitated or suffering from severe illnesses, making them less likely to question or resist his actions. This method not only ensured the rapid demise of his victims but also made the deaths appear as natural occurrences, thereby evading immediate suspicion.

Notable Victims

• Muriel Watts: A 79-year-old comatose patient at Rosedale Manor Nursing Home in St. Petersburg. Her death in 1990 raised suspicions among nurse's aides, leading to an investigation.
• Alphonse Silva: An 82-year-old recovering from throat cancer, Silva was admitted to Rosedale Manor in 1990. He died under Rosenfeld's care, with subsequent investigations revealing lethal levels of Mellaril in his system.
• Hazel DeRemer: An 81-year-old Alzheimer's patient who passed away in 1987. Exhumation and autopsy later uncovered lethal amounts of Mellaril, linking her death to Rosenfeld.
