Between October 1968 and June 1971, the city of Odessa, Texas, and its surrounding areas were gripped by a series of heinous crimes that targeted women. These events, later dubbed the "Odessa Lust Murders," were eventually linked to Johnny J. E. Meadows. While Meadows was convicted for one murder, several others remain officially unsolved, leaving a haunting legacy in West Texas.

- Gloria Sue Nix Green
- Date of Disappearance: June 17, 1971
- Location: Kermit, Texas
- Details: Gloria, employed as a secretary, vanished from her workplace. Her skeletal remains were later discovered beneath a rotting mattress in a vacant lot in South Odessa. Meadows confessed to her murder and, in 1972, was sentenced to 99 years in prison for this crime.

- Location: Odessa, Texas
- Details: Linda, a 24-year-old barmaid, disappeared from a laundromat. Two months later, her body was found in a field northwest of Odessa. Her hands were bound behind her back with nylon stockings, and she had been strangled.
- Dorothy Smith
- Date of Death: November 5, 1968
- Location: Monahans, Texas
- Details: Dorothy, a motel owner, was discovered shot to death in her apartment. Her hands were bound with television cable.
- Eula Miller
- Date of Death: July 16, 1970
- Location: Odessa, Texas
- Details: Eula was found nude in her apartment, having suffered multiple stab wounds.
- Nancy Miller
- Date of Disappearance: September 16, 1970
- Location: Kermit, Texas
- Details: Nancy was abducted from her home while her children slept. Her skeletal remains were discovered in June 1971 on an oil lease south of Kermit.
- Ruth Maynard
- Date of Disappearance: January 9, 1971
- Location: Odessa, Texas
- Details: Ruth, the wife of an Odessa policeman, was reported missing and found deceased on February 15, 1971, a few miles from where Linda Cougat's body had been discovered.
