Crime Spree and Murders (1979–1980)

After escaping from an Arkansas jail on September 17, 1979, Harding embarked on a multi-state crime spree characterized by robbery, kidnapping, and murder. His known victims include:
  • Stanton Winston Blanton: Murdered on December 10, 1979, in Dallas, Texas. Blanton was found bound and gagged, having died from asphyxiation.
  • Charles Dickerson: Killed on January 3, 1980, in South Lake Tahoe, California. Dickerson was discovered beneath a motel bed, bound, gagged, and deceased due to asphyxiation.
  • Gerald Huth: Murdered on January 10, 1980, near Paso Robles, California. Huth was a businessman from Minnesota whose body was found after being robbed and killed.
  • Allen Gage: Killed on January 25, 1980, in Phoenix, Arizona. Gage was found in his motel room, bound with adhesive tape and gagged, leading to his death by asphyxiation.
  • Robert Wise and Martin Concannon: Both men were murdered on January 25, 1980, in Tucson, Arizona. Harding posed as a security guard to gain access to their motel room, where he bound, gagged, and shot both men before stealing their belongings.
