Manuel Jr. Pardo was a former police officer turned serial killer who terrorized South Florida in 1986. Pardo, a former Marine and law enforcement officer, claimed he was eliminating criminals, but his brutal murders painted a darker picture. Between January and April 1986, Pardo killed nine people, justifying his actions as a vigilante mission against drug dealers.

The Murders

• Hilda Mercedes DeSaro - Murdered on January 22, 1986, in Miami, Florida. DeSaro was a 39-year-old woman whom Pardo shot and killed.
• Fermin Uriza - Killed on January 28, 1986, in South Florida. Uriza, a suspected drug dealer, was shot multiple times by Pardo.
• Reynaldo “Ray” Rivero - Murdered on February 27, 1986. Pardo killed Rivero in cold blood, claiming he was involved in drugs.
• Alejandro “Alex” Aponte - Killed on March 3, 1986, in Miami. Pardo gunned him down under the pretense of vigilantism.
• Roberto Alfonso - Murdered on March 6, 1986, in South Florida. Alfonso was executed with gunshots.
• Mario Amador - Killed on March 6, 1986, the same day as Roberto Alfonso. Amador was another victim of Pardo’s killing spree.
• Eustaquio “Tico” Martinez - Murdered on April 22, 1986. Pardo continued his killings, targeting Martinez.
• Juan Carlos Mesa - Also killed on April 22, 1986. Pardo executed him with gunfire.
• Rafael “Ralph” Tapanes - Murdered on April 23, 1986. Tapanes was one of Pardo’s final known victims.

Capture and Conviction

Authorities caught Pardo after linking him to the murder scenes through ballistic evidence and stolen items found in his possession. He was arrested in 1986 and stood trial in 1988.
