The investigation into the murders led to Pardo's arrest on May 7, 1986. He was apprehended in New York City after seeking medical treatment for a gunshot wound to his foot, which he sustained during one of the killings. Additionally, items belonging to the victims were found in his possession, further implicating him in the crimes.
During his trial in 1988, Pardo was convicted on nine counts of first-degree murder, including the murder of Juan Carlos Mesa. He was sentenced to death and spent over two decades on death row before being executed by lethal injection on December 11, 2012, at Florida State Prison.
