Raymond Curlee (not Curley) was my uncle. In 1978 he was a gentle giant that had an upholstery shop on the north side service road of I-30 in far east Dallas. The night he was killed, he had stayed late to finish a project. As it got late, he decided to rest on a cot he kept in the back room of the store. As he slept, Barber was walking along the service road in front of Raymond’s shop when he noticed light shining through the front window. Barber realized it was a soda machine and decided to burglarize the shop and take the soda money. Once he broke into the shop, the noise of the crime awakened Curlee who then grabbed a gun from the back room and proceeded to the front. Barber was also armed and heard Curlee stirring. According to Barber’s interrogation by the Dallas Police, the two actually pointed guns at each other - Barber from beside the coke machine and Raymond from the doorway. Unfortunately, Barber’s bullet struck first, hitting Raymond in the head. His murder went unsolved for months with police and his family thinking it may have been an old associate or friend from Raymond’s younger days when he had run with a rougher crowd. Fortunately, Raymond’s brother in law was a detective with DPD with many years on the force. The officers and detectives that interrogated Barber heard his confession of killing a man in Dallas and immediately saw the similarities to their fellow officer’s family member’s death. While the DA chose the Janice Ingram murder to indict Barber, the three other murders, including my Uncle Raymond’s, were tacked on to the primary case to show the heinous nature of Barber’s character and have him classified as a serial killer, responsible for four deaths. His death was devastating to his entire family, especially his parents who both died before Barber was executed in 1999, the year Texas had the most lethal injections in its history of the death penalty.... ...View Post & Comment

To sum up, first, we were not staying there. He was not a roommate. We went over to stay the night at my mom’s house. He ended up. Punching a 14-year-old girl over the dishes that I was doing because I was pregnant and contracting mind you I was 16 years old. He was 22. We had an extremely tough relationship because he was extremely abusive and had a horrible addiction to methamphetamines constantly being beaten. At the same time, I was pregnant with his child my brother has intellectual disorders, and seeing him beat me. At the same time, I was pregnant and choked me out multiple times Nikolai portrayed himself differently online just like anybody else who would be upcoming famous or famous. You’re not gonna show everything not only that he was beating the criminal system he said himself using my mom‘s address but not staying there so if they need to find him, they can’t so it will be easier for him to go on the run during the court hearing they didn’t release anything from his cell phone for a reason, he tried to force me to do sexual acts with around 20 to 24 year olds I was 16 told me if I didn’t he was gonna beat me and then did would keep me caught hostage told him that we needed to get our dog a kennel and he threw hot oil on me after leaving me outside in the heat for over three hours because of a suggestion I made I would cut myself because I was really suicidal because I was constantly being beaten and he came in the bathroom with a serrated, knife and cut me anywhere he could reach with the blade constantly being kicked in the stomach while I was pregnant dragged around by my hair or being beaten once because he told me to do meth while I was pregnant and I said no another time over keeping me away from my family at 16 so yes and there’s a lot more and there’s a lot a lot more. The story continues to go on, especially in my head, but they won’t let you speak the truth.... ...View Post & Comment

I knew Devan as a co-worker/friend. He was truly a beautiful human being. He would help anybody. He would feed the homeless, help the elderly with anything, and you could also count on him for a great laugh every time you encountered him. Let alone a very handsome, respectful, respectable, humble guy. He also was the type that would stand up for others and for what was right. I was devastated when I found out someone took such a beautiful soul away from this Earth. It made me wonder was it someone who may have been jealous of him, or did he stand up to somebody and they held a grudge against him for it? The way he was done tells me it was definitely more personal than a random shooting. May he get the justice he truly, truly deserves. Devan never deserved such an awful act carried out against him. ... ...View Post & Comment

Once Again for Edward Lay's youngest child/daughter (20 years old;21 in about 30 days) -- That is my father who was my whole world, and I was 7 years old when this happened. I had just talked to him on the phone not even an hour before this happened, and he was trying to come home. Mary had interrupted the phone call threatening my mother, my brother, and I, that she would hurt us if he was to come home to us. She had threatened my mother for months and attempted to cut all communication between my father and his family. My life has been hell for me mentally and emotionally without my father physically in my life, and that the only ways I can even talk to my dad is a maybe weekly phone call, by mail, or a 15- or 30-minute video visit, and that's if I have the money. The dreams that were really nightmares of him walking through the door finally coming home and crying in my sleep to waking up and sobbing knowing it wouldn't be a reality still happen more times than not. My father knows everything about my siblings; I mean he had to give up 3 of his own and 1 he treated like his own because of their living conditions with their mother and how she was treating them. He's the one that called CPS/DCS knowing he might not get custody of them. My father has his issues/mental issues, but he would do anything for his family even if that meant giving away his freedom or his life. Maybe before don't judge other's choices without knowing their true reason. “Don’t judge people for the choices they make when you don’t know the options they had to choose from.” ... ...View Post & Comment
