A junior at Hancock Place High School in Lemay, Missouri, he was described by relatives as loud, funny, and so loving that he had to tell you he loved you every time he left. Logan, who gave hugs with his whole body, enjoyed listening to music, spending time with his family, and snuggling with his dog.
He had a beautiful smile that could light up a room and aspirations of a future career in real estate. His sudden death just weeks before his 17th birthday sent shockwaves through his tight-knit family and the wider community, prompting his school district to make counseling services available to grieving students and staff.
In the late afternoon of November 14, 2024, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of a residential neighborhood in St. Louis County. Police responded to a call shortly before 5 p.m. and discovered Logan unresponsive at the intersection of Regina and Horn avenues. He was suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to court documents, Logan had arranged to meet with individuals that day. During the encounter, he was pushed to the ground and shot. The assailants then rifled through his pockets and took some of his personal property before walking away. Detectives investigating the case noted the brazen nature of the sophisticated daytime attack, which was committed in a populated area. Logan’s mother later stated that her son was an acquaintance of one of the individuals involved but that she was unsure of the reason for their meeting.
Within a week of the shooting, authorities announced the arrests of two 17-year-old suspects. In June 2025, one of the teens, Martin Russell Tullis III, was charged as an adult with first-degree murder, first-degree attempted robbery, and armed criminal action.
The second suspect was initially held at the St. Louis County Family Court. In August 2025, he was identified as 18-year-old Jadin D. Smith and was also charged as an adult. The charges against Smith included second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and first-degree attempted robbery. As of August 2025, both Tullis and Smith were being held on separate $1 million cash-only bonds while their criminal cases remained pending trial.
