In the early morning hours of a Thursday in July 2019, the body of 30-year-old Marcus Warren was discovered on a sidewalk near 63rd Street and South Benton Avenue in Kansas City. Initially, the cause of his death was not publicly known, but the circumstances were deemed suspicious enough for police to investigate it as a homicide. The following day, authorities confirmed that Warren had been the victim of a shooting.
