In the early hours of Saturday, January 20, 2024, the life of 18-year-old Ka’Marr A. Brown was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in south Kansas City, Missouri. Responding to calls reporting the sound of gunfire just before 12:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 10700 block of Marsh Avenue. Before they could arrive, the emergency call was updated to a shooting.
Upon their arrival at a parking lot in the area, police discovered Brown unresponsive on the ground, having
sustained an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical services were called to the scene, but tragically, he was pronounced dead from his injuries. Witnesses had reported hearing gunshots and then seeing the young man lying on the ground.
Detectives and crime scene investigators began to process the scene, collecting evidence that included several bullet casings found in the parking lot near where Brown's body was discovered. The Kansas City Police Department opened a homicide investigation into the death of Ka’Marr A. Brown. His case was noted as the city's third homicide of the year.
As of now, the investigation into Brown's death is ongoing and the case remains unsolved. Law enforcement officials have urged anyone with information to come forward and have offered a substantial reward of up to $25,000 for tips that lead to an arrest. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been announced in connection with the shooting.
