On January 27, 2023, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Kansas City police responded to a reported shooting at a residence in the 3400 block of Chestnut Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Mark Young unresponsive with gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. An adult woman present also sustained minor gunshot injuries and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
