Elizabeth Green, 21, was last seen on April 17, 2024, in Callao Utah—a remote, sparsely populated desert community in northern Snake Valley, Juab County, home to roughly 50 residents. That morning, she left her family’s home to walk a short distance along a dirt road to start her first day of work at a nearby ranch. Her mother recalled that Elizabeth insisted, “no, I’ll walk,” seeming happy and excited while making coffee before departing.
When she failed to arrive at the ranch or return home by evening, alarmed loved ones and community members initiated a search and contacted the Juab County Sheriff’s Office the following morning. Search and Rescue teams conducted grid-pattern searches, including use of helicopters, drones, and K-9 units, combing the area between her home and the ranch as well as the surrounding region. Despite these efforts, no trace of Elizabeth was found—not footprints, clothing, shoes, her bag, or any physical evidence. The K-9 units reportedly did not pick up her scent on multiple occasions.
The ranch where she was expected to work cooperated fully with investigators; authorities searched the property and were told that Elizabeth never arrived nor was there any contact with her that day. Authorities also obtained search warrants to access her phone and social media accounts. These revealed she had been communicating online—for instance via Snapchat and a dating platform—and that she had mental health struggles and had run away once before, though she normally returned or reached out quickly. There has been no activity on her phone or social accounts since her disappearance.
Elizabeth is described as a 5-foot-11 Caucasian female weighing approximately 125 pounds, with light brown hair, green eyes, and a mole on her left cheek. She was last seen wearing a pink tie-dye high-cut hoodie, light blue jeans, black Converse sneakers, and carrying a white backpack purse adorned with sprinkles.
Investigators and family members have expressed deep concern, noting that people do not simply vanish without a trace. The remote desert terrain, spanning vast distances and accessible only via dirt roads, poses hazards of serious bodily injury or death. Alternatively, authorities have not ruled out the possibility that someone Elizabeth was communicating with met her and may be holding her against her will.
Her mother maintains hope, expressing confusion over the total absence of clues, and pleading for Elizabeth to reach out if she is able. The FBI has also been assisting local authorities in the investigation.
