Do you know who murdered Keith Malone Jr? In the early morning hours of June 14, 2020, a gathering of over 100 people near the Dave Armstrong Extreme Park in Louisville's Butchertown neighborhood turned into a scene of chaos and violence. Twenty-year-old Keith Cortez Malone Jr., a Black male, was tragically shot and killed in a massive exchange of gunfire at the intersection of North Clay Street and East Liberty Street.
The incident, which occurred around 2:30 a.m., resulted in more than 100 shots being fired, leaving four other individuals with gunshot wounds. When Louisville Metro Police Department officers arrived at the scene, they discovered three people with gunshot wounds. Keith Malone Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other victims were transported to the hospital by private means with non-life-threatening injuries.
Known affectionately as 'Lul Mundo,' Keith was a 2018 graduate of Doss High School, where he had been an outstanding football player. Remembered by his family as a 'jokester' who brought laughter and joy to those around him, he was also a talented barber and dancer. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. His family described him as a beacon of hope and positivity, striving to create a better path for himself and his loved ones.
Despite the large number of people present at the time of the shooting, the investigation into Keith Malone Jr.'s death has been met with challenges. Authorities reported that none of the five victims appeared to be the shooter. As of March 2025, his murder remains unsolved, and no suspects have been publicly identified or arrested in connection with the shooting. The Louisville Metro Police Department continues to seek information from the public, urging anyone with details to come forward to help bring those responsible for Keith's death to justice and provide closure for his grieving family and friends.
