In the spring of 2020, the life of 15-year-old Devon Darrell Dawson was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. A Black male known for his free spirit and contagious smile, Devon was a freshman at Fairdale High School. He had a strong personality and a love for making his family and friends laugh with his jokes.
On the evening of March 27, 2020, Devon was shot on Algonquin Parkway. He was rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital in critical condition.
For two weeks, he fought for his life in the intensive care unit, a testament to his resilient spirit. However, despite the efforts of medical staff and his own will to survive, Devon succumbed to his injuries on April 11, 2020. His passing left a profound void in the hearts of his loved ones.
In the wake of the shooting, the Louisville Metro Police Department launched a homicide investigation. Despite their inquiries and public appeals for information, the case has grown cold. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with Devon Dawson's death, and police have not publicly identified any suspects. The investigation remains open, and authorities continue to urge anyone with information to come forward as a family and a community continue to wait for justice.
