In the early morning hours of July 4, 2021, a bustling area of Louisville, Kentucky, known for its nightlife, became the scene of a fatal shooting. At approximately 2 a.m. in the 900 block of Baxter Avenue, 39-year-old Tyrone Enoch Roberts, a Black male, was shot. When Louisville Metro Police Department officers arrived, they found Roberts suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Tyrone Enoch Roberts succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity. His death was one of over 100 homicides in Louisville by that point in 2021, contributing to a significant and concerning increase in the city's homicide rate compared to previous years. Roberts was a father to four children: Antyah, Tyrone, Tylar, and Tylan.
Following the shooting, the LMPD's homicide unit launched an investigation into Roberts's death. However, the case has remained unsolved, with no arrests made and no suspects publicly identified. Law enforcement has continued to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case, urging individuals to contact their anonymous tip line. As it stands, the investigation into the death of Tyrone Roberts remains open, and his killer or killers have not been brought to justice.
