In a tragic turn of events on what should have been a day of celebration, 20-year-old Mahamed Abdi was shot and killed in Louisville, Kentucky, on his birthday, May 14, 2022. The incident, which also claimed the life of his best friend, 18-year-old Kahlil Laghmani, unfolded as a double shooting in the Hikes Point neighborhood.
