In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Louisville, Kentucky, the life of 27-year-old Dalton M. Doggrell was tragically cut short. On October 27, 2020, Louisville Metro Police responded to a call about a person down in the 4000 block of Senn Road, near the Lake Dreamland area. Upon arrival around 4 a.m., officers discovered Doggrell's body; he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity and the cause of his death.
The investigation into the shooting death of Dalton Doggrell led to multiple arrests. In January 2021, authorities took Ethan Maddox and James Barton into custody. According to court records, Maddox admitted to investigators that he was present when Doggrell was shot and killed. He further confessed to his involvement in taking Doggrell's vehicle from the scene and subsequently burning it. Both Maddox and Barton faced charges of complicity to murder and tampering with physical evidence.
A month later, in February 2021, the investigation culminated in a third arrest. A 17-year-old male was taken into custody and charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence in connection with Doggrell's death. Due to his status as a juvenile, his name was not publicly released. The LMPD Homicide Unit continued to investigate the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting on Senn Road.
