In the winter of 2022, the life of Erwin James Jacob Sr., a 50-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. On the evening of Friday, January 14th, officers were called to a building in the 4100 block of West Broadway. Inside, they discovered Mr. Jacob, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene around 7:15 p.m.
A member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Erwin James Jacob Sr. was known to many in the community.
His sudden and violent death prompted an investigation by the Louisville Metro Police Department's homicide unit. The case remains open, and as of the latest available information, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
He was survived by his son, parents, and a brother, along with a host of other family members and friends. His death has been recorded as a loss to gun violence, leaving a void in the lives of those who knew him.
