In the late afternoon of August 8, 2020, the life of 29-year-old Larry Wayne Eldridge, a White / Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in the Smoketown neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. The incident unfolded around 3:30 p.m. in the 800 block of South Hancock Street, where Eldridge was found with a fatal gunshot wound. First responders rushed him to the University of Louisville Hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he succumbed to them.
Larry, a mechanic by trade,
was known for his dedication to his family. His mother, Carrie Eldridge, described her son as her best friend and her 'angel.' The grief of his family was compounded by the horrific nature of his death. According to his mother, an intruder kicked in the door of their Smoketown home and shot her son at close range, right in front of his wife and children. She recounted the terror of that day, stating that the assailant had held her 1-year-old granddaughter and her seven-months-pregnant daughter-in-law at gunpoint.
