In the early morning hours of June 5, 2019, the life of 37-year-old Michael Gaines Sr., a Black male, was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. His body was discovered inside a burning vehicle on Cecil Avenue in the Chickasaw neighborhood shortly before 4 a.m. Initially, the scene presented as a car fire and crash, but the subsequent autopsy revealed a more sinister story. The coroner determined that Gaines had been shot to death before the car was set ablaze.
