In the quiet neighborhood of Park Hill in Louisville, Kentucky, a tragedy unfolded on the evening of April 27, 2024, forever altering the lives of two families. On that Saturday, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the sounds of gunfire shattered the peace in the 1700 block of West Ormsby Avenue. When officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered a grim tableau. Inside a residence, two individuals lay with gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate life-saving efforts of the first responders, their injuries were too severe.
The victims were identified as 80-year-old James Jones and 53-year-old Lorrie Hayden. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, leaving a community in shock and a homicide investigation in its early stages.
