Do you know who murdered Maurice Carter?
In May of 2016, a horrific sequence of events unfolded in Louisville, Kentucky, culminating in the tragic death of 16-year-old Maurice Gordon. The young man's life was cut short in a brutal act of violence that stemmed from another murder, ensnaring him and his younger brother in a situation from which they could not escape. The story of his death is one of fear, betrayal, and a desperate attempt to silence witnesses.

The ordeal began after Maurice Gordon and his 14-year-old brother, Larry Ordway, witnessed the fatal shooting of 40-year-old Christopher Jones. The man responsible for Jones' death was an acquaintance named Brice Rhodes. Fearing that the teenage brothers would go to the police and expose his crime, Rhodes concocted a plan to ensure their silence. He lured Maurice and Larry to his home, where the situation quickly escalated into a nightmare.

Inside the residence, the brothers were tied up and subjected to brutal torture. According to the testimony of one of the individuals present, Anjuan Carter, who was 15 at the time, Rhodes directed the violence. Maurice was stabbed multiple times after being forced to beg for his life. Following Maurice’s murder, his younger brother Larry was also stabbed to death. After the murders, the bodies of Maurice and Larry were placed in containers, taken to an abandoned property, and set on fire in an attempt to destroy the evidence.

The subsequent investigation led by the Louisville Metro Police Department unraveled the gruesome details of the crime. Four individuals were arrested in connection with the murders of Maurice Gordon and Larry Ordway: Brice Rhodes, the alleged mastermind, and three teenagers, Anjuan Carter, Jacorey Lamont Taylor, and Tieren Coleman. In the face of overwhelming evidence, Carter, Taylor, and Coleman eventually accepted plea deals, agreeing to testify against Rhodes. Their testimonies were crucial in piecing together the events that transpired and securing a case against the man they claimed orchestrated the entire horrific episode. Anjuan Carter pleaded guilty to facilitation of murder and tampering with physical evidence.
