In the early morning hours of November 11, 2023, the life of 42-year-old Quinn Dunlap, a Black male from Louisville, Kentucky, was tragically cut short in a burst of violence inside a local nightclub. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. at the Suga Land Gentleman's Club, located in the 3500 block of 7th Street Road in the Taylor Berry neighborhood.
Louisville Metro Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Dunlap inside the establishment, having sustained at least one gunshot wound. Despite the immediate response from law enforcement and emergency medical services, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Friends and family remembered Dunlap as a loving and funny individual, often the 'hype man' who brought uplifting energy to those around him.
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the shooting, but as of early 2024, no arrests have been announced, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The Kentucky Alcoholic Beverage Control board issued an emergency suspension of the club's liquor license, citing a failure to prevent a firearm from being brought onto the premises. The club has since entered into a settlement, agreeing to implement enhanced security measures, including the use of metal-detecting wands and trained security personnel to conduct pat-downs of all patrons. Following this agreement, the establishment has been permitted to reopen.
